York to Whitehaven

rain 13 °C

We left York after a great 2 days exploring. Weather was O.K. as we headed toward our final destination for the day at Whitehaven.
G.P.S was set for the town of Settle and it was a great drive for 3 hours as we drove down small lanes and roads that wound through small towns passing stone fencing of monumental proportions as we went. Fields of purple heath that stretched as far as you could see made the fields look scorched then over the next hill contrasting fields of rolling green.
Black face sheep are everywhere and are pretty cute ( as far as sheep go ) Even saw black sheep with white faces.
Rain set in as a cool breeze whipped across the countryside which made for not so great sightseeing.
At Settle we stopped for coffee and cake then moved on. Ribbleshead viaduct was huge and morphed out of the drizzle. Very impressive.
We finally arrive at Whitehaven for our 2 night stay so we can explore the lakes district more thoroughly.
Dinner done we got into our lift and it broke down. Her we are in England stuck in a lift!!
Lift services were apathetic so we phoned emergency service as Kerry had coverage on her phone.
Firies arrived about 5 minutes later and after a short amount of time we were out and free of the box we were in.
A bit of excitement but not what we were envisaging.
Day done we hope for a little less excitement and better weather tomorrow.
